THE ZERO HARM VISION

As of 2008, IAMGOLD adopted the Zero Harm vision - a vision which would guide their operations and activities in their commitment to reach the highest standards in human health and safety, minimize their impact on the environment, and work cooperatively with host communities. In order to achieve their Zero Harm vision, IAMGOLD set up several environmental management aspects – energy and GHG emission management being two of them.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Lighting is one of the most commonly used ways to increase energy efficiency, especially for warehouse and area lighting applications. So as part of Rosebel’s Supply Chain Optimization project, the Rosebel Warehouse Department wanted to convert its old conventional lighting to a smart and energy efficient LED Lighting system. The transition to LED would drastically decrease their energy consumption, reduce their carbon footprint, and optimize their lighting performance - which would enhance security and productivity.

THE UNIQUE SOLUTION

Lighting as a Service is a unique concept that delivers full LED lighting solutions with NO upfront cost. Our company, Project Lighting Solutions, is an energy service company specialized in lighting systems. Using our Lighting Services means that you do NOT have to purchase any lighting products, you do NOT need to pay to install the system and you do NOT need to maintain it either. For a fixed monthly fee we make sure the lighting system always performs as expected. In case a fixture malfunctions, which can happen, we come and replace it with NO additional cost. This means you have NO risk and you do NOT have to worry about warranties and replacement costs. After all, it's light that you want, not products. This gives you the opportunity to focus on your core business.

Throughout the Warehouse Department, we implemented a total of 166 LED lighting fixtures, eleven light poles with associated concrete footings and new electrical infrastructure to facilitate the new lighting and control systems.
